How To Create a Complete Game Launch Button
A complete game button can prepare the visual stream and launch the game with one SheevPad press.
Prepare the Pieces
Before creating the button:
- Connect OBS Studio or Streamlabs Desktop.
- Create the game's broadcast scene.
- Create and save the matching Overlay Builder layout.
- Confirm the game appears in a supported launcher picker or identify its application path.
Build the Button
- Open SheevPad and create a button in a Scenes or Games group.
- Give it the game's name, color, and optional Media Library image.
- Add these actions in order:
1. Set the broadcast scene
2. Change Master Overlay
3. Set stream category
4. Launch the game
Use OBS Studio Control → Scenes - Set scene or the separate Streamlabs Desktop Control → Scenes - Set scene action. Select targets from the matching provider's live catalog.
For the final action, use the appropriate Steam, Epic, Ubisoft, EA, Battle.net, or application launcher action.
Match the Overlay to the Scene Transition
In Change Theme → Master Overlay, choose Fade when the broadcast scene uses a fade or animated transition.
Set the SheevChat fade close to the OBS or Streamlabs transition duration. If the scene transition is 700 ms, start with an overlay fade around 700–900 ms. A slightly longer SheevChat fade helps when independent action swimlanes do not begin on the exact same frame.
Using None causes the overlay target to change immediately and can look like a visible snap during a smooth scene transition.
Choose the Platforms for Category Updates
Enable only the platforms where the game's category should change. Category names may differ between Twitch, YouTube, and Kick, so verify the result before relying on one value everywhere.
Test Without Launching Everything
Temporarily omit the game-launch action while checking the scene, overlay, fade, and category. Add the launcher only after the visual sequence works.
Common Problems
- Wrong scene changes: Refresh the provider catalog and reselect the intended scene.
- Overlay snaps: Choose Fade and match or slightly exceed the scene transition duration.
- Overlay changes but OBS/Streamlabs does not: Confirm the button uses the connected provider's action family.
- Category fails on one platform: Check that platform's connection and exact category name.
- Game does not launch: Reopen the action and select the installed game or valid application path.
