How To Create a Go-Live SheevPad Button
A Go-Live button can prepare the starting scene, Master Overlay, session data, and broadcast output in a controlled order.
Build the Preparation Sequence
Create a SheevPad button named Go Live and add:
1. Set the Starting scene
2. Change Master Overlay to the Starting layout
3. Reset or clear session data you intentionally start fresh
4. Pause long enough for the scene and overlay transition
5. Start streaming
Use Start streaming, not Toggle streaming. Toggle can stop an already-running stream if the button is pressed again.
Only clear Credits, counters, queues, or other session data when that reset is intentional and recoverable.
Match the Overlay Fade
Choose Fade for the Master Overlay swap and match it to the OBS or Streamlabs scene transition. If exact timing is uncertain, make the SheevChat fade slightly longer so the overlay does not snap before the broadcast transition finishes.
Set the following Pause slightly longer than both transitions before starting later output or session actions.
Keep Provider Actions Separate
Use OBS Studio Control when OBS is your broadcaster. Use Streamlabs Desktop Control when Streamlabs is your broadcaster. Each connection has its own scene catalog and output state.
Do not add both Start streaming actions unless you intentionally broadcast from both applications.
Add Optional Actions Carefully
After Start streaming, you may add explicit actions to begin recording or the replay buffer. Prefer Start operations over Toggle operations so pressing the button has one predictable result.
Keep a separate End Stream button rather than making one button switch between starting and stopping output.
Test Without Going Live
First test a copy of the button with Start streaming removed. Confirm the scene, overlay, fade, pause, and safe session actions. Add the live output action only when the preparation sequence is correct.
Common Problems
- Button stops the stream: Replace Toggle streaming with Start streaming.
- Overlay visibly snaps: Use Fade and match or slightly exceed the scene transition duration.
- Old Credits remain: Add the intended Credits session reset before Start streaming.
- Scene is not ready before later actions: Increase the Pause after the visual transition.
- Wrong broadcaster responds: Replace the action with the correct OBS or Streamlabs action family.
- Button is pressed twice: Restrict access to the broadcaster and avoid Toggle operations.
