⏱️ Creating Timers

Timers let SheevChat post reminders or run actions automatically at a chosen interval.

Examples include social links, reminders, trivia, OBS actions, and loyalty rewards.

For help adding multiple actions, see Action Builder and Action Sequences.

Creating a Timer

  1. Navigate to Bot Commands.
  2. Select Timers.
  3. Click New.
  4. Enter a clear Name, such as Social Links.
  5. Choose a Category, or leave it Uncategorized.
  6. Set the Interval (minutes).
  7. Set the Min chat lines requirement.
  8. Choose whether the timer is Online only.
  9. Enable the platforms where it should run.
  10. Add at least one action.
  11. Click Create Timer.

The timer starts automatically when enabled.

Use Duplicate to create an independent editable copy, then change its name, interval, platforms, messages, or actions before saving.

Interval and Chat Lines

Interval controls how often SheevChat checks the timer.

15 = check every 15 minutes

Min chat lines prevents messages from posting when chat is quiet.

0 = fire regardless of chat activity
10 = require at least 10 new chat messages

Both requirements must be met. If the interval passes before enough chat lines are received, the timer waits for a later interval check.

Online Only

Enable Online only to run the timer only while that platform is live. This is recommended for most promotional and chat timers.

Disable it only when you intentionally want actions to run while offline.

Active Platforms

Enable Twitch, YouTube, Kick, or TikTok under Active on platforms when offered.

Each platform is checked separately. An online Twitch channel can run the timer even if an enabled YouTube or Kick channel is offline.

TikTok Timer delivery is opt-in and runs only supported chat actions. Link-bearing TikTok messages are skipped, and non-chat Timer actions are not executed through the TikTok lane. Existing all-platform Timers do not silently add TikTok.

Adding Messages and Actions

Under Actions:

  1. Choose an action category.
  2. Choose the action.
  3. Click Add action.
  4. Complete its settings.

Timers can send messages, start Chat Games, award Loyalty, change the Master Overlay, trigger alerts, update User Counters, control OBS Studio or Streamlabs Desktop, and use imported actions.

They can also create Twitch clips, control Windows audio, change the loyalty name, and snooze an upcoming Twitch ad. TikTok-enabled Timers run the complete ordered pipeline of actions supported by their selected actions.

Rotating Chat Messages

Add multiple Send chat message actions to create a message rotation.

  • Sequential uses each message in order.
  • Random chooses a message at random.

Only one rotating chat message is selected each time the timer fires. Other non-chat actions still run.

Important: Multiple Send chat message cards are alternative rotating messages—not several messages sent during the same timer run. Use Send chat message (delayed) when you need an additional message later in the same run.

Using Variables

Timers support global variables in message and text fields.

Example:

We are currently playing {channel.category}! The stream has been live for {channel.uptime}.

Use Insert Variable to browse the available choices. Values that depend on a live connection or current song may be unavailable when that information does not exist.

Example Social Timer

Name: Social Links
Interval: 20 minutes
Min chat lines: 10
Online only: On
Platforms: Your active streaming platforms
Action: Send chat message
Message: Join our Discord: YOUR-LINK

This checks every 20 minutes and posts only after at least 10 new chat messages on a live platform.

Testing a Timer

  1. Save and enable the timer.
  2. Open Tests from the SheevChat header.
  3. Run the timer test.
  4. Confirm its messages, actions, variables, and platforms.

Testing avoids waiting for the full interval.

Common Problems

  • Timer never fires: Confirm it is enabled.
  • Still waiting: Check both the interval and minimum chat lines.
  • Does not run offline: Disable Online only if that is intentional.
  • Wrong platform: Check Active on platforms.
  • TikTok message is skipped: Remove links and confirm TikTok is connected to the active LIVE.
  • Only one message posts: Multiple chat messages rotate by design.
  • Variable appears as text: Its live or runtime information may be unavailable.
  • External action fails: Confirm OBS Studio, Streamlabs Desktop, or the Marketplace app is connected for that action family.
