How To Save SheevPad as a Mobile App

Open SheevPad on a phone or tablet, then save it to the Home Screen for quick, app-like access during a stream.

Open SheevPad on Mobile

  1. In SheevChat, open Settings → Sources.
  2. Expand Mobile / Tablet Pairing.
  3. Choose Unaliased or Aliased, then scan the QR code.
  4. Enter the four-digit Pair Code shown in SheevChat.
  5. Open or create a Mobile / Tablet Light view containing SheevPad.
  6. For a dedicated control deck, make a view that only displays SheevPad.
  7. Save that view and leave it open while following the browser instructions below.

The device and SheevChat PC must share the same local network, and SheevChat must remain open. If an Aliased .local address does not load, pair again using Unaliased. Changes made in the desktop SheevPad editor are shared with paired devices.

iPhone or iPad — Safari

  1. Tap Share—the square with an upward arrow.
  2. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  3. Rename it SheevPad if desired.
  4. Tap Add.

If another iOS browser does not offer this option, open the page in Safari.

Android — Chrome

  1. Tap the ⋮ menu.
  2. Choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
  3. Choose Install when available for the best full-screen experience.

Android — Microsoft Edge

  1. Open the Edge menu.
  2. Choose Add to phone, Add to Home screen, or Install app.
  3. Confirm the installation or shortcut.

Samsung Internet

  1. Tap the ☰ menu.
  2. Choose Add page to.
  3. Select Home screen and confirm.

Firefox for Android

  1. Tap the ⋮ menu.
  2. Choose Install or Add to Home screen.
  3. Confirm the prompt.

Menu wording can vary slightly by browser version. Launch SheevPad from its new Home Screen icon after installation.

Common Problems

  • Install option missing: Use Add to Home screen or try the device's default browser.
  • Page will not open: Pair again with the Unaliased address and confirm both devices share a network.
  • Pairing was forgotten: Browser site data was probably cleared; pair the device again.
  • App stopped connecting: Pair again after the host PC's IP address or SheevChat port changes.
  • Wrong mobile view opens: Select and save the desired SheevPad view before recreating the Home Screen icon.
