How To Use the Media Library
The Media Library keeps reusable images, GIFs, audio, and video in SheevChat so they remain available to Giveaways, SheevPad, overlays, and actions.
Add Media
- Open Data Manager → Media Library.
- Click Upload media and select one or more supported files.
- Follow the import progress and review the final summary. One failed file does not stop the remaining selection.
- Select an uploaded item to preview it and edit its details.
- Give it a clear display name and add any useful tags.
Supported formats shown by the uploader include PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, SVG, MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, AAC, MP4, WebM, and MOV.
Some uploaded videos require FFmpeg to be converted into an overlay-friendly format. Install it under Settings → General → Third-party Dependencies if SheevChat reports that conversion is unavailable.
SheevChat copies every upload into its app-data Media Library. After the copy finishes, moving or deleting the original file will not break the SheevChat item. The current storage location is displayed above the library.
Find and Reuse Media
Use Search, Type, and Tag filters to narrow the library. An item can have multiple reusable tags, so one file can appear under labels such as Alerts, Giveaways, and Sounds. Select an item to:
- Preview it
- Rename it or add and remove tags
- Copy its SheevChat media URL
- Duplicate it while preserving its tags and readiness settings
- Remove the copied library file
When another SheevChat feature offers a media picker, select the library item there. For example, use it in a Giveaway, SheevPad button, Alert Preset, or Overlay Builder image widget. A copied media URL can be used in supported overlays and actions.
For an Overlay Builder image carousel, add each image to the Media Library first. Select the Image widget, choose Carousel, add the images in display order, then configure its cycle time and transition.
To play library audio through OBS or Streamlabs, keep a saved Overlay Builder Browser Source active and use Send to Overlay → Play Audio Payload in Action Builder. Set volume on the action. A receiver widget is not required for new layouts; see How To Set Up Overlay Audio.
Good Practices
- Use short, reusable tags such as
Giveaways,Sounds,Alerts, andSheevPad. - Preview large animated or video files before using them on stream.
- Deleting a library item removes SheevChat's copied file, not the original source file.
- Before deleting, replace every button, giveaway, overlay, or action that uses the item.
- A complete Backup & Restore archive can optionally include Media Library files. Enable that option when the media should travel with the backup.
