🔌 Changing an In-Use Port

SheevChat uses a local server port for its interface, overlays, docks, mobile pages, and other browser sources. The default port is 3000.

If another application on the same PC is already using that port, SheevChat may fail to open correctly.

Note: Ports only need to be unique on the same PC. SheevChat can use port 3000 on two different computers without causing a conflict.

Before Changing the Port

  1. Fully close SheevChat from the Windows system tray.
  2. Open Task Manager and check for any remaining SheevChat processes.
  3. End any leftover process, then reopen SheevChat.

If SheevChat now opens normally, another copy was likely still using the port.

Changing the Port

If another application needs the current port:

  1. Temporarily close the other application.
  2. Open SheevChat.
  3. Navigate to Settings.
  4. Select the General tab.
  5. Expand Advanced Port Configuration.
  6. Enter an available port, such as 3001.
  7. Click Save and Restart.
  8. Reopen the other application.

SheevChat supports ports from 1024 through 65535.

Update Your Sources

Changing the port also changes your SheevChat URLs.

Before: http://localhost:3000/
After: http://localhost:3001/

After SheevChat restarts:

  1. Navigate to Settings.
  2. Select the Sources tab.
  3. Copy the updated URLs into any OBS sources, docks, bookmarks, mobile shortcuts, or second-PC sources.
⚠️ Second PCs, phones, and tablets must use the LAN address generated by SheevChat—not localhost.

If another port is also unavailable, try 3002, 3003, or another unused port.
