How To Manage Birthdays
SheevChat can store viewer birthdays, answer birthday commands, and trigger a birthday shoutout when a saved viewer chats on their birthday.
Viewer Commands
First choose the date order under Settings → General → Display → Birthday Date Format:
- MM-DD-YYYY (US) uses
MM-DDorMM-DD-YYYY. - DD-MM-YYYY (International) uses
DD-MMorDD-MM-YYYY.
Viewers then save their own birthday using the selected format. For example, in US format:
!setbirthday MM-DD
They may include a year when they want their age shown:
!setbirthday MM-DD-YYYY
Use !birthday to check your saved birthday or !birthday username to check another viewer. Use !deletebirthday to remove your own entry. Moderators can use !deletebirthday username to remove another viewer's entry.
The selected date order is also used by birthday command responses, birthday variables, User Cards, and Data Manager. Changing it changes how existing dates are displayed; viewers do not need to save them again.
Saving only the month and day is the more private option. Do not pressure viewers to provide a birth year.
Manage Saved Birthdays
- Open Data Manager → Birthdays.
- Search by viewer name or filter by Twitch, YouTube, or Kick.
- Sort by Upcoming, Name, or Platform.
- Review the stored date, calculated age when a year exists, and next birthday.
- Delete incorrect or unwanted entries from the table.
Include Birthdays when creating a SheevChat backup under Data Manager → Data Migration before removing many entries or moving to another computer.
Birthday Shoutouts
Saving birthdays does not automatically create a chat message. To announce them, create a Viewer Birthday automation and add a Send chat message action. Event variables include {user}, {platform}, {birthday}, {birthdayAge}, and {age}.
The Viewer Birthday event fires once per stream session when a viewer with a saved birthday chats on their birthday. See How To Set Up Birthday Shoutouts for the complete automation recipe.
Privacy and Corrections
- Treat birthdays as personal information and collect only what your community needs.
- A missing year is valid; the viewer simply will not have a calculated age.
- Remove a birthday promptly when a viewer asks.
- If a birthday appears under the wrong platform identity, delete it and have the viewer set it again from the correct account.
