How To Select Random Viewers
Random-viewer variables select an eligible person observed during the current stream session without mixing platform identities.
Choose a Variable
Use Insert Variable in a supported response or action field:
| Variable | Selection pool |
|---|---|
{viewer.random} or {viewer.random:current} | Current event platform |
{viewer.random:twitch} | Current Twitch viewers/chatters |
{viewer.random:youtube} | YouTube users observed this session |
{viewer.random:kick} | Kick users observed this session |
{viewer.random:tiktok} | TikTok users observed this session |
{viewer.random:all} | All eligible current-session platforms |
The result is the selected viewer's display name. An empty or unsupported pool resolves to an empty value.
Understand Eligibility
SheevChat excludes:
- The broadcaster
- SheevChat itself
- Accounts tagged as Bot in Filtered Accounts
- Viewers who opted out
- Invalid or incomplete identities
Twitch can use its current chatter roster. YouTube, Kick, and TikTok use eligible people observed through current-session chat or activity; they are not complete viewer rosters.
Viewer Opt-In and Opt-Out
Viewers can manage themselves with:
!vieweroptout
!vieweroptin
They can use the command's supported all form to apply the preference across platforms. Moderators and broadcasters may manage another named viewer when needed. Preferences are durable rather than limited to one stream.
Review the built-in command cards for exact aliases, permissions, platforms, and response wording.
Tag Bot Accounts
Open Settings → Filters → Filtered Accounts and enable the independent Bot account tag for relay or service accounts.
The Bot tag excludes that identity from random-viewer selection but does not enable Overlay, TTS, Commands, Points, or other filters by itself.
Random Viewers Versus Random Lists
{viewer.random...} selects from eligible viewers. A Random List selects from values you entered manually and can use relative weights. Use the correct system for the intended pool.
Common Problems
- Variable returns blank: No eligible viewer is available in that scope.
- A bot is selected: Add its platform identity to Filtered Accounts and enable the Bot tag.
- A viewer remains excluded: Ask them to use
!vieweroptinfor the appropriate scope. - Two similar usernames are mixed up: Use platform-specific scopes and canonical platform identities.
- Selection does not include every watcher: Non-Twitch platforms generally provide seen users, not a complete live viewer list.
