How To Connect Channel Point Rewards to Actions

A Channel Point Automation lets one Twitch reward run any supported Action Builder sequence.

Create the Automation

  1. Create the reward in Twitch and connect Twitch to SheevChat.
  2. Open Bot Commands → Automations.
  3. Click New and name the Automation after the reward.
  4. Choose Channel point redemption as the trigger.
  5. Select the exact reward. Use Refresh if a new reward is missing.
  6. Leave the platform on Twitch.
  7. Add the actions the reward should run.
  8. Save and test with a harmless version before enabling the real reward.

Leaving the reward blank matches every redemption and is rarely appropriate for a reward-specific effect.

Use Redemption Variables

Common variables include:

  • {user} — viewer who redeemed the reward
  • {reward} — reward name
  • {message} — viewer text entered with the reward
  • {user.points} — viewer's current SheevChat Loyalty balance

Use {message} for song searches, TTS text, clip links, or another viewer-supplied value.

Useful Reward Patterns

Song Request

Add Music Controls → Song request and use {message} as the request query.

TTS or Sound Effect

Add Send to Overlay → Send TTS/Text Payload with {user} said {message}, or use Play Audio Payload for a fixed Media Library sound. Every active Overlay Builder source can receive global overlay audio; a receiver widget is not required for new layouts.

Daily Counter

  1. Increment a User Counter for {user}.
  2. Send a chat message using the updated counter variable.

See How To Create a Daily Channel Point Check-In for the complete counter workflow.

External Device or Service

Use Fetch Webhook with the URL and method required by the service. Treat a webhook URL containing a key or token like a password: never publish it in screenshots, exports, or examples.

Multi-Step Effect

Combine source visibility, pauses, chat messages, overlay audio, counters, and other actions. Later actions run in sequence, but connected systems may maintain independent work queues.

Prevent Repeated or Overlapping Effects

Configure Twitch's reward cooldown and per-stream limits where appropriate. Also use an Automation cooldown when the complete sequence should not start again immediately.

For long timed effects, make the reward cooldown at least as long as the effect unless overlapping redemptions are intentional.

Common Problems

  • Reward is missing: Refresh the Twitch reward list and confirm the correct broadcaster account is connected.
  • Viewer input is blank: Enable required text input on the Twitch reward.
  • Wrong reward fires it: Select a specific reward instead of leaving the filter blank.
  • Effect overlaps itself: Increase the Twitch reward or Automation cooldown.
  • TTS or audio is silent: Confirm the Overlay Builder Browser Source is active, its audio is enabled, and its Test TTS/Test Audio control works.
  • Webhook fails: Check its method, URL, network access, and service requirements without exposing its secret.
