How To Create a Timed Camera Redeem

A timed camera redeem can temporarily show a source over the current scene or take over the stream with a dedicated camera scene.

Choose a Camera Pattern

Show a Source Temporarily

Use this when the camera source or group already exists in the scenes where it should appear:

  1. Set source visibility to Visible.
  2. Add Utilities → Pause / wait for the desired duration.
  3. Set the same source visibility to Hidden.

This preserves the active scene.

Switch to a Camera Scene Temporarily

Use this for a complete camera takeover:

  1. Set the current scene to the camera scene.
  2. Pause for the desired duration.
  3. Choose Return to previous scene.

This restores whichever scene was active before the redemption.

Build the Channel Point Automation

  1. Open Bot Commands → Automations → New.
  2. Choose Channel point redemption.
  3. Select the camera reward.
  4. Add either the source or scene sequence above.
  5. Save the Automation.

For OBS, use OBS Studio Control actions. For Streamlabs, use Streamlabs Desktop Control actions and its own live scene/source catalog. Do not mix provider actions in one camera sequence unless both applications are intentionally active.

Coordinate an Overlay Swap

If the camera scene uses a different Master Overlay, add Change Theme → Master Overlay after the scene action and select Fade.

Match the fade duration to the OBS or Streamlabs scene transition so the overlay does not snap to the new layout. When timing differs between action swimlanes, make the SheevChat fade slightly longer than the broadcast-software transition.

Prevent Overlapping Redemptions

Set the Twitch reward cooldown to at least the camera duration. A five-minute camera should generally have a five-minute or longer cooldown.

Overlapping source sequences can hide a source while a later redemption still expects it to be visible. Overlapping previous-scene sequences can also return to an unexpected scene.

Test Safely

Test with a short duration such as 5 seconds before using 30 seconds or several minutes. Confirm the exact source item or scene is selected and that the final action restores the original state.

Common Problems

  • Camera never appears: Refresh the OBS or Streamlabs catalog and select the current source item.
  • Camera stays visible: Confirm the final visibility action explicitly selects Hidden.
  • Wrong scene returns: Avoid manually changing scenes during the timed takeover.
  • Another redemption breaks the timer: Increase the reward cooldown to prevent overlap.
  • Overlay visibly snaps: Use Fade and match or slightly exceed the scene transition duration.
