How To Create Twitch Clips

SheevChat can create a Twitch clip from the connected broadcaster stream through the built-in !clip command or an Action Builder sequence.

Enable the Clip Command

  1. Open Bot Commands → Commands.
  2. Find the disabled-by-default !clip command.
  3. Choose who may use it.
  4. Set user and global cooldowns.
  5. Choose a clip duration from 5 to 60 seconds.
  6. Choose whether the completed clip link should be posted to Twitch chat.
  7. Enable and save the command.

Start with Moderator or another trusted role. Clip creation can be disruptive when every viewer can trigger it repeatedly.

Add Create Twitch Clip to Actions

Commands, Automations, Timers, and SheevPad can use Stream Platform Commands → Create Twitch Clip.

  1. Add the action.
  2. Set Clip length from 5–60 seconds.
  3. Choose whether to post the link to Twitch chat.
  4. Save and test the parent item while live.

Useful examples include a moderator highlight command, a SheevPad moment button, or an Automation attached to an important stream event.

Understand Clip Timing

Twitch creates the clip from recent live broadcast content. The requested duration is bounded by Twitch and may not align perfectly with the instant the action was pressed.

The broadcaster must be live and connected with permission to create clips. Finished links can take a moment to become available.

Common Problems

  • Command does nothing: Confirm !clip is enabled for Twitch and the user meets its permission and cooldown rules.
  • Clip action is unavailable: Connect the Twitch broadcaster account and refresh the action editor.
  • Clip creation fails: Confirm the channel is live and allows clips.
  • No link appears in chat: Enable the action's posting option and confirm SheevChat can send Twitch chat.
  • Too many clips are created: Raise permissions and cooldowns.

Creating a new Twitch clip is separate from accepting viewer-submitted clip URLs. For viewer submissions and playback, see How To Set Up Viewer Clips and the Clip Overlay.
