How To Find, Install, and Manage Marketplace Packages

The SheevChat Marketplace provides apps, overlay widgets, widget themes, Chat and Spotify themes, action packs, chat games, and community packages.

Browse the Marketplace

  1. Open Marketplace from the SheevChat header.
  2. Select Marketplace rather than Installed Apps.
  3. Browse a category, including Games for chat-game packages, or use Search.
  4. Filter by package type, target, installation status, updates, or items needing attention.
  5. Select a package and review its details panel before installing it.

Review its previews, publisher, version, changelog, compatibility, capabilities, requested permissions, dependencies, and trust label. Only install packages from publishers you trust. Apps and imported widgets may communicate with other software, access approved local resources, or run package-provided code.

Install a Package

  1. Click Install on a compatible package.
  2. Open Package Details.
  3. Check whether required dependencies are installed.
  4. Use Install dependency for anything required and missing.
  5. Open Installed Apps and confirm the package reports as installed or ready.

An unavailable package may require a newer SheevChat version. Optional dependencies can be skipped, but the features that rely on them may not work.

Connect an Installed App

Installed apps may use saved credentials, OAuth, a browser pairing code, a local port, network discovery, or another connection supplied by its publisher.

Marketplace package dependencies are managed from that package's Package Details page. SheevChat's shared yt-dlp, FFmpeg, MPV, Piper, and Kokoro tools are managed separately under Settings → General → Third-party Dependencies.

Interactive Marketplace Item widgets can also receive Action Builder events. See How To Trigger Marketplace Widgets from Commands for a permission-controlled chat example.

  1. Open Marketplace → Installed Apps.
  2. Find the app and expand Connections.
  3. Complete the displayed login, pairing, address, or credential fields.
  4. Click Test when available.
  5. Confirm its status becomes connected or authenticated.

Credentials remain masked. Use Clear Auth or the displayed clear-credentials control to remove saved authorization, then authenticate again if necessary.

The Installed Apps filters and health summary can locate packages that need authentication, have updates, expose event streams, have not yet been connected or tested, or require attention.

Use Installed Package Features

The package determines where its features appear:

  • Actions: Open a Command, Automation, Timer, or SheevPad button and select the installed action in Action Builder.
  • Overlay widgets: Add a Marketplace Item in Overlay Builder, then choose the installed widget pack.
  • Themes: Select a compatible built-in or Marketplace widget and load the installed theme.
  • Event streams: Start and manage them under Installed Apps → Event Streams, then use the Imported App Event Automation trigger.

Some interactive Marketplace widgets expose an Action Builder action under Overlay Widgets → Trigger Marketplace Widget. Select the widget, enter the action key supplied by its publisher, and optionally provide JSON payload data.

Marketplace games may provide their own management adapter, protected command category, settings, and presentation. For the shared setup workflow, see How To Install and Use Marketplace Chat Games. Game-specific rules remain in the package publisher's documentation.

Updates and Removal

Use the Marketplace's Updates filter to find newer compatible versions. Review the changelog, update the package, and retest important overlays and action sequences.

Remove an installed item from its Installed Apps card. Removing an app can break actions and Automations that reference it. Removing a widget or theme can leave saved overlays without the selected package until it is reinstalled or replaced.

Import a Local Package

Click Import Local to install a trusted .sheevpack, .zip, .sheevactions, .sheevactionszip, or supported JSON package. Local imports do not receive Marketplace trust guarantees or automatic catalog updates.

Use Reload / Refresh after replacing a local package. Review Local import diagnostics and the Needs attention filter for missing assets, developer warnings, or dependencies.

For StreamElements exports, see How To Import StreamElements Custom Widgets.

Troubleshooting

  • Package is unavailable: Update SheevChat and recheck its compatibility requirements.
  • Needs dependency: Open Package Details and install the required package.
  • App will not connect: Start the target app or device, verify its address or port, and repeat authentication.
  • Item does not appear in Action Builder: Reload Installed Apps, confirm the package provides actions, and reopen the editor.
  • Widget is missing in Overlay Builder: Install a widget package, then add a Marketplace Item and select it.
  • Theme cannot be selected: Themes only appear for compatible widget targets.
  • Package stopped working after an update: Review its changelog, connections, permissions, dependencies, and publisher documentation.
