How To Pause Music During Stream Events
An Automation can temporarily pause Media Requests so a raid, alert, announcement, clip, or spoken segment is easier to hear.
Create the Automation
- Open Bot Commands → Automations → New.
- Choose the event that should interrupt music, such as an incoming raid.
- Add Music Controls → Pause song.
- Add Utilities → Pause / wait for the interruption's duration.
- Add Music Controls → Resume song.
- Save and test the Automation.
Example:
1. Pause song
2. Play raid alert or run raid actions
3. Pause for 30 seconds
4. Resume song
Place Pause song before the alert when the alert should begin without music underneath it.
Choose the Wait Time
Match the pause to the alert, video, TTS, or announcement sequence. Add a small buffer when its duration varies.
Avoid extremely long fixed pauses unless the event always lasts that long. A manual Resume song button in SheevPad is useful as a fallback.
Browser Player Requirement
For browser-native YouTube playback, keep Media Requests open and connected in the preferred browser. Spotify still requires an active Spotify playback device.
The Automation can run while the player is disconnected, but there may be nothing available to pause or resume.
Avoid Overlapping Events
If another matching event starts during the wait, the first sequence may resume music before the second event finishes. Use a suitable Automation cooldown or design a longer shared interruption when repeated events are common.
Common Problems
- Music does not pause: Confirm Media Requests is connected and something is playing.
- Music resumes too early: Increase the wait to cover the complete alert sequence.
- Music never resumes: Confirm Resume song is after the wait and the sequence did not fail earlier.
- Repeated events fight each other: Add a cooldown or use a manual SheevPad Resume button as recovery.
- Spotify does not resume: Confirm Spotify still has an available active playback device.
