How To Create a Daily Channel Point Check-In
This setup lets each Twitch viewer check in once per stream and permanently increases their personal check-in count.
For a broader introduction to reward triggers, filters, and action recipes, see How To Connect Channel Point Rewards to Actions.
Create the User Counter
- Open Bot Commands → Data Manager → User Counters.
- Click New category.
- Name it
Check In. - Click Create category.
You do not need to add viewers manually. The Automation creates their row the first time they redeem.
Create the Twitch Reward
In your Twitch Creator Dashboard:
- Create a Custom Channel Point Reward named
Daily Check-In. - Set a low cost appropriate for your community.
- Enable the per-viewer, per-stream redemption limit.
- Set that limit to
1. - Save and enable the reward.
The Twitch reward limit is what prevents a viewer from increasing their counter more than once during the same stream.
Create the Automation
- In SheevChat, open Bot Commands → Automations.
- Click New.
- Name it
Daily Check-In. - Choose Channel point redemption as the Trigger Event.
- Select Twitch as the platform.
- Choose the
Daily Check-Inreward. - Leave the SheevChat cooldown at
0. Twitch already enforces the per-viewer limit.
Increment the Viewer’s Count
Under Actions:
- Select Chat Bot Commands → Increment user counter.
- Click Add action.
- Select
Check Infrom Counter category. - Set Username to
{user}. - Set Amount to
1. - Set the platform to the event platform or Twitch.
If the new category is not listed, close and reopen the action editor.
Announce the Check-In
Add the message after the Increment action so it reads the updated value:
- Add Chat Bot Commands → Send chat message.
- Enter a message such as:
✅ @{user} checked in! This is check-in #{usercounter:Check In}.
- Set Send to to Same platform as event.
- Confirm Increment is action
1and the message is action2. - Create or save the Automation.
Test the Check-In
- Redeem
Daily Check-Infrom a viewer account. - Confirm the chat message shows
#1. - Open Data Manager → User Counters → Check In.
- Confirm the viewer appears under Twitch with a value of
1. - Confirm Twitch blocks a second redemption from that viewer during the same stream.
Common Problems
- Automation does not fire: Reconnect Twitch, reload rewards, and reselect the correct reward.
- Count remains zero: Check the selected category,
{user}, and platform selection. - Message shows the old value: Move Increment above Send chat message.
- Viewer can redeem repeatedly: Enable Twitch’s per-viewer, per-stream limit and set it to
1. - Wrong viewer is counted: Use
{user}, which comes from the redemption event.
